The North Pennine Orefield Geology North

The period of mineralisation is provisionally assigned to the early Permian (c290ma) although there are, as is often the case in such matters, some disagreements. The bulk of the mineralisation occurs within the Carboniferous series of sedimentary rocks that makes up the main part of the North Pennines.
